ARDENT
Ardent is a musical tale based on the construction of a blast furnace in a European metallurgical basin.
As the story unfolds, we discover the people and situations that make up the economic and social wealth of this place. We see the struggles, the camaraderie, we discover what it's like (in part) to be a foundryman. But we also learn about the men who later plunged the industry into ruin, and ultimately doomed it. Ardent is a cross-disciplinary show, a tribute to a part of our heritage: the history of the Liège iron and steel basin.
Through this show, the societal themes of yesteryear will find an echo in today's world, allowing us to reflect on the future.
The artistic intention of this project is to bring together the instrumental music of KOWARI (Damien Chierici and Louan Kempenaers) with the digital arts (large-scale video productions and projections), set design and lighting design/installation by Edouard Little, and the poetry of actor Merlin Vervaet.
The result is an intense, totally immersive show that invites us to delve into the past to better understand the issues of the modern world. Starting with a local theme, the show reflects on the acceleration of globalization, the necessary ecological transition and the digital future.
The issues of the time are still topical: migratory flows, mass industrialization, the impact of human beings on their environment, social movements...
Our approach is also part of our duty to remember, to pay tribute to our heritage. We have drawn on archives, memories and images of these high points of industrial culture.
